A phone number adds an extra layer of security to your XT account by enabling SMS verification. In some situations, such as when you no longer wish to use a specific phone number or need to adjust your account’s security setup, you may choose to remove it. This guide explains how to remove your phone number securely via the XT app.
Note: For security reasons, your account must have at least two verification methods enabled. Before removing your phone number, please ensure that both your email address and Google Authenticator are already bound to your account.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
1. Why would I need to remove my phone number?
You may remove your phone number if you no longer wish to use it, are switching to a new number, or want to adjust your account’s security settings.
2. Can I remove my phone number at any time?
You can remove your phone number as long as your account still has at least two verification methods enabled. This is required to maintain account security.
3. Do I need access to my current phone number to remove it?
No. Removing your phone number does not require access to the current phone number. You can complete the removal by verifying your identity using other enabled verification methods, such as your email address and Google Authenticator.
4. Why are withdrawals and P2P trading disabled after I remove my phone number?
To protect your assets, withdrawals and P2P trading are temporarily disabled for 24 hours after removing your phone number. This restriction will lift automatically after the period ends.
5. Can I bind a new phone number after removing the current one?
Yes. You can bind a new phone number at any time from the [Security Center].
6. Why did I receive a “Verification Code Error”?
This error can occur if you take longer than 5 minutes to enter the verification code, causing it to expire. It can also happen if the code entered is incorrect. Please request a new code and enter it promptly and accurately.
7. What does “The current operation has timed out. Please restart your process.” mean?
This means the phone number removal process was not completed within the required time, causing the session to expire. Please restart the process and try again.
8. Why am I not receiving the verification code?
For email verification codes, delays may be caused by spam filters, network issues, or multiple requests made in a short time. Please check your spam or junk folder, and try again after a few minutes. For SMS verification codes, delays typically result from network problems, weak signals, or carrier processing times. Switching to mobile data, moving to an area with better reception, or restarting your device may help. If the issue persists, please contact XT support for assistance.
